INSTALLATION NOTEOptional Plastic Retention Clip
The plastic retention clip included with your PiBOX India M2-2230-NE1 enclosure is completely optional. For standard installation, simply insert your NVMe SSD directly into the slot, apply the included thermal pad, and secure the CNC aluminum cooling fin top with the provided screw. This direct metal-to-SSD contact is intentionally designed to ensure maximum heat dissipation and optimal thermal performance.
✅ Is This Design Safe?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike sliding enclosures or larger form factor enclosures where SSDs can shift horizontally, our precision-engineered 2230-specific design naturally arrests any horizontal movement. This secure fit has been validated through extensive 3D simulation testing, which confirmed less than 1 degree of flex – this minimal tolerance actually helps create superior contact pressure between the SSD and the aluminum heat sink, resulting in exceptional heat transfer. The enclosure functions perfectly without the retention clip, as the direct contact between the thermal pad and CNC aluminum fins provides superior cooling performance.
📎 Using the Optional Clip
If you still prefer to use the retention clip, please align it with its straight edge parallel to the length of the SSD, install it onto the SSD first, then insert the assembly into the enclosure slot (refer to the installation video). However, for best thermal performance, we recommend the standard installation without the clip to maintain optimal direct contact between your SSD and the premium CNC aluminum heat sink.
